Who We Are
ATLAS Apex is an Identity by Design consultancy. We design, deliver, and protect identity as a security control plane: the authentication, authorization, governance, and lifecycle systems that determine how an organization controls access, responds to threats, and maintains trust. We build an identity service, not a product. A product is bought and left to you. A service is owned, delivered, and operated with you.
We engage one way: we own the design. From the first conversation through delivery and into operations, an ATLAS Apex architect is accountable for what gets designed, what gets built, and how it holds up under change. We do not write a document and walk away. We do not deploy a product and hand it over. We design with the operational team that will inherit it, and we stay close until that team can carry it forward.
We design and run identity as a security control plane: workforce, customer, machine, and browser. We are deliberately small. Design ownership is a sustained relationship, not a hand-off.
We invest in the relationship and we work hard to keep what we build operable. We are in it for the long haul: we thrive when a customer comes back for the next problem, or comes back to us after moving on. Identity work is technical; the relationship is human, and we treat it that way in a digital world that often forgets.
Some of that work is humanitarian. Through Okta for Good we deliver identity to non-profits at discounted fixed prices, and we use those partnerships, and our wider partner network, to support efforts protecting people in real danger and need. Identity, done well, gets out of the way so the mission can move.

HenkJan de Vries
Founder & Managing Director
HenkJan has spent a decade architecting identity for enterprises, most of it deep in the Okta ecosystem. He co-authored Okta Administration: Up and Running (Packt) and holds Okta's Consultant, Administrator, and Professional certifications. He founded Atlas Apex to treat identity as a security discipline with clear ownership, not a configuration job. His mantra: stay safe, click safe, own your identity.
Mihai-Andrei Gazi
Founder & Managing Director
Mihai is a senior identity consultant with six years in identity, who came up through frontline support and real-time analysis before specializing in enterprise IAM and governance. He holds Okta and Auth0 certifications and a Master's in Cybersecurity. His principle, secure yourself before you breach yourself, runs through how he designs access.

How We Engage
There is one way to engage with us, and we stay close to it. It keeps the work consistent, keeps our standards intact, and keeps the relationship honest.
We own the design
Every engagement starts with us being accountable for the architectural decisions. We do not staff a project where the architecture is owned somewhere else. The decisions that are expensive to change later are made together, with us in the room, and we sign our name to them.
We stay through delivery
The architect who designed the system is the same architect who sees it built. No translation layer, no handover to a different team, no losing the intent in the implementation. The same people are on the call when something breaks in week six as were on the whiteboard in week one.
We protect the standard
When the work does not require architectural ownership, or when an organization is not ready for it, we say so. We do not take engagements outside this path. Keeping the standard intact is how we keep the standard meaningful.

We work across industries because the underlying discipline is the same. The threat model differs. The compliance pressure differs. The user base, the device estate, the integration footprint all differ. What does not differ is the rigour required to design an identity system that survives the next five years of business change and the next breach pattern that has not been invented yet.
Cross-vertical work makes us better at the work. A financial services architecture review surfaces patterns we then apply to a retailer's customer identity rebuild. We bring the architectural standards from the most demanding sector you operate in, regardless of which sector you actually sit in.
We turn down engagements outside our practice area. We do not turn down engagements because of the sector.
